IAG Materials

The Challenge

As IAG Materials continued expanding its inventory of aircraft and engine components, maximizing storage capacity within its existing warehouse became a top priority. The facility required a storage system capable of accommodating a growing volume of palletized inventory while maintaining efficient product accessibility and supporting high-throughput warehouse operations.

The project objectives included:

  • Maximizing vertical warehouse space
  • Increasing pallet storage capacity without expanding the building footprint
  • Maintaining direct access to every pallet location
  • Improving storage organization for faster inventory handling
  • Supporting safe operation of narrow aisle material handling equipment
Selective-Pallet-Racks

The Solution

Atlantic Rack designed and installed a high-density Selective Pallet Rack System tailored to the facility’s available space, growing inventory, and daily operational requirements. The system was planned to make full use of the warehouse’s vertical clearance while maintaining direct access to every pallet location, allowing IAG Materials to increase storage capacity without expanding its existing building footprint.

A narrow-aisle layout was incorporated to reduce unused floor space and create additional rack rows while still supporting safe and efficient forklift operation. This combination of vertical storage and optimized aisle spacing transformed the facility into a more organized, accessible, and space-efficient distribution environment capable of supporting the company’s continued growth.

System Specifications

The selective pallet rack system was configured to maximize storage density while accommodating the facility’s palletized aviation inventory and narrow-aisle material-handling operations. The system specifications included:

  • Product: Selective Pallet Racking
  • Upright Height: 30 ft
  • Beam Length: 12 ft
  • Rack Levels: 6 Storage Levels
  • Capacity: 3 Pallet Positions per level
  • Pallet Type: Standard 40-inch GMA pallets
  • Aisle Width: 9-ft narrow-aisle configuration

The 30-foot-high rack system fully utilized the building’s vertical clearance, significantly increasing storage density without sacrificing accessibility. By implementing a 9-foot narrow aisle layout, the warehouse gained substantially more storage locations compared to a conventional wide-aisle configuration while still allowing efficient forklift operation.
