Vertical Lift Modules (VLM)

Vertical Lift Modules maximize warehouse storage capacity by using available vertical space instead of relying solely on floor space. These automated storage and retrieval systems use a series of trays and an automated extractor to store and retrieve products quickly, efficiently, and accurately.

Atlantic Rack provides automated storage solutions designed around your facility, inventory, workflow, and operational requirements—helping you increase storage density while reducing unnecessary travel and manual handling.

How Vertical Lift Modules Work?

A Vertical Lift Module (VLM) is an automated storage and retrieval system that stores inventory vertically inside a fully enclosed unit. The system consists of multiple trays positioned within the VLM and an automated extractor that retrieves and delivers trays to an ergonomic access opening.

Instead of employees walking through aisles searching for inventory, the VLM automatically locates the requested tray and brings it directly to the operator.

This vertical approach allows warehouses and distribution centers to take advantage of unused overhead space while reducing the floor area required for storage.

Two VLM Solutions. One Trusted Partner.

The right VLM depends on your facility height, inventory profile, load requirements, throughput, available footprint, and automation objectives. Atlantic Rack offers vertical lift module solutions from SSI SCHAEFER and VIDIR, giving businesses flexible options for maximizing storage density, improving picking efficiency, and automating inventory retrieval.

SSI Logimat Schaefer Vertical Lift Module

SSI SCHAFER LOGIMAT® VLM

The SSI SCHAFER LOGIMAT® Vertical Lift Module is a system that uses individually managed trays and a central lift to automatically retrieve products and deliver them to the operator opening. LOGIMAT can be configured in multiple widths and depths, with heights reaching up to 23.85 meters (approximately 78 feet) and tray capacities of up to 700 kg (1,543 lb). Its intelligent controls, optional ergonomic features, and integration capabilities make it suitable for applications ranging from small-parts storage and spare parts to production buffers and order picking.

VIDIR VLM

The VIDIR Vertical Lift Module is an automated, high-density storage system engineered to optimize vertical space while delivering inventory directly to the operator. Its design incorporates automatic height detection and variable tray spacing, allowing trays to be positioned according to the height of the stored products. VIDIR’s VLM also features servo-driven technology, modular tray configurations, front-facing maintenance access, and its VIP inventory control system. Standard configurations reach up to 30 feet, with individual tray capacities of up to 1,500 lb and total machine load capacities of up to 132,000 lb, depending on configuration.
